We were blown away by the number of posts that were shared on our Facebook wall this day in honor of Movement Monday!! Is it the beautiful weather that finally showed up that has gotten you all inspired to move???? The sunshine and warmer air has definitely been a welcome change in Northeast Ohio! Here are our favorite outdoor gross motor activities for kids from this week!
Giselle from KIDS YOGA STORIES brought us another yoga series. This time, it is centered around Earth Day which is April 22. I love how she explains poses with a little snippet about something pertaining to helping the Earth. For example, to incorporate a Bow Pose into her series, she relates it to a fish swimming through clean ocean waters. So creative!! Giselle also provides a great list of books for reading about Earth Day with your kiddos.
Chanda, a fellow pediatric physical therapist from the blog PINK OATMEAL shared an informative article about progressing the gross motor skills of babies using an activity table. She shows how you can best position the toy to promote tummy time for strengthening, crawling, kneeling and eventually standing — although her little guy wasn’t quite ready to demonstrate that one yet!! :)
LIFE WITH MOORE BABIES share a super fun way to work on math skills while playing basketball! All she needed was a few laundry baskets and some balls! Such a great idea and so simple! I can imagine this turning into a really intense competition!!
A big thank you to everyone who shared this week! If you would like to head over to our Facebook page and see all of the other wonderful activites that were shared, please do! And, it is MOVEMENT MONDAY! Don’t forget to post your ideas to incorporate full body movement into play. We would love to see what you have come up with!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
