How to Make a Spider Web Weaving Craft
What You’ll Need
-Paper plate
-Scissors
-Yarn
-Pipe cleaners
-Craft eyes
What to do:
Check out this spider web weaving craft in action!
First, cut small slits all around the edge of the paper plate, about 2 inches apart.
Then, have kids wrap the yarn through the slits (crossing over the center of the plate) to make a spider web.
Cut small pieces of pipe cleaners and twist them together to make a spider shape. Add the craft eyes and then weave the spider into its web.
How to Change it Up:
-Try using a black paper party plate with white yarn or a white paper plate with black yarn to make the colors really pop!
-If you don’t have pipe cleaners, simply use a plastic toy spider to hang on your web.
-Encourage kids to stabilize the plate with their non-dominant hand while they weave the yarn with their dominant hand to encourage bilateral coordination.
-Pair this activity with our Sticky Spider Web Obstacle Course for some gross motor fun!
