Last Monday, our Facebook page was full of fabulous gross motor indoor activities for kids that were shared by YOU! We loved your great ideas – keep them coming!!
Did you have a nice Valentine’s Day? We enjoyed some much needed relaxation and family time that included making heart sugar cookies! We have a fantastic family recipe for yummy sugar cookie dough that we whip up for every holiday. Family traditions rock!
Before we share this week’s Movement Monday activities, we wanted to make sure you saw our 9 Awesome Movement Songs for Kids from last week! Songs are awesome for encouraging movement. Try playing a few of these fun songs around the house. We promise that your kids will be dancing, stomping, jumping and boogying in no time — and you probably will be too! The third song in this list is an absolute favorite in our house!
Here were our favorite gross motor indoor activities for kids from last Monday:
ENCOURAGE PLAY || This mama sure has some creative kiddos! They came up with this game that involves movement and learning ALL BY THEMSELVES!!
PINK OATMEAL || Chanda is a fellow pediatric physical therapist who obviously knows A TON about the benefits of movement. She shared a zoo themed yoga sequence that will have your child posing like all kinds of animals including lions and flamingoes! You can even download a set of printable cards from Pink Oatmeal with visual prompts for all of the poses.
BUILDING BLOCKS AND ACORNS || I haven’t met a kid yet that doesn’t enjoy riding a toy horse around pretending to be a cowboy or cowgirl! This DIY Hobby Horse was made out of recycled materials, making it COMPLETELY FREE! Claire and I are going to have to whip a few of these up for our therapy sessions soon!
A BIG THANKS to all of you that shared your whole body movement activities last week on Facebook. Be sure to head over there again today and let us know what you have been doing to keep your kids active and healthy with gross motor movement this week!
ENJOY YOUR WEEK!!
