In my personal and professional experience, musical activities and songs for kids are second to none when it comes to getting everyone moving!
Even I can’t resist a little head bobbing or shoulder shrugging when I hear a great beat — I will leave the full-fledged dancing to everyone else!
As we mentioned earlier in the week, music and musical toys can target just about every aspect of development that you can think of!
Here are some of our favorite tunes for getting our kids up and moving whether we’re at home or in the therapy room!
WE ARE THE DINOSAURS — LAURIE BERKNER
CHICKEN FAT – JACK CAPON & ROSEMARY HALLUM, PHD
TONY CHESTNUT – THE LEARNING STATION
STOMP, STOMP CLAP – THE LEARNING STATION
SILLY DANCE CONTEST – JIM GILL
AWESOME RAINBOWS and any other song by Koo Koo Kangaroo
**Koo Koo Kangaroo and can also be found at GoNoodle, along with tons of other awesome songs for kids!
Here’s one more bonus song we didn’t want to forget! Check out Laurie Berkner’s Airplane Song with our fun movement variations!

I LOVE all these songs! Thanks so much for sharing your favorites. I am sure my kiddos would appreciate it if I used some of these songs rather than ME always singing to them. LOL
LOL…thanks for the comment Laurie (the singing school PT)!! I also sing to the kids I work with and generally make up songs for whatever I want them to practice. It’s pathetic! I have used a lot of Laurie Berkner’s songs in therapy though and the kids LOVE them!
Thank you for these. My son loves music and we often have family dance parties. I’ll save these for later:)
Awesome Megan! Glad that your son will enjoy them and I love that family dance parties happen in your house! SO SO FUN! And such great memories he will have!!
