We recently featured a post with some great Core Strengthening Activities for Kids. Today, we’re sharing some of our favorite therapist-approved core strengthening toys and games that help kids work on core strength and stability. They’ll be having so much fun, they won’t even realize they’re getting a workout!
– The Valeo Body Ball: Use a large version of this ball and sit the child on top, bouncing him. Hold onto him at his hips for greater support or at his knees for a greater core strength challenge. Can he keep from falling over as you roll the ball in every direction or bounce higher and higher?
– The T Stool: This is a challenging toy, but great for trunk strengthening. Have your child sit on this stool during homework time. Or, for fun, have them sit on the stool and throw objects into a bucket or play volleyball with a balloon.
– Sportime Indestructible Turtle Beanbags: These are an absolute favorite of the kiddos we see in therapy! Make the turtles go under the bridge or have them ride on your child’s back as he does the wheelbarrow walk.
– The Wobble Deck: Kids will get a great core workout without even realizing it with this toy. The Wobble Deck has your child standing and tilting in all directions. The goal? Stay on board! It takes a strong core to stay upright on this great toy!
– Rody: This is best for the younger crowd (5 and under) but it will hold up to 300 lbs for any adult with knees sturdy enough to try it! The Rody Horse is the modern day Hippity Hop.
– Core Exercise Cards for Kids by Super Duper (not pictured): A deck of cards that gives suggestions for activities for core strengthening. Make it a game! Who can complete the exercise and collect the most cards?
