We love coming up with new Valentine’s Day Activities for Kids! Today’s Hearts & Arrows Game is perfect for challenging visual skills!
If you’re an occupational therapist, you probably spend a good part of your day working with kids on visual motor skills. Whether it’s handwriting or drawing, or utensil use – you know how important visual skills are when it comes to everyday functioning for kids.
Sometimes, it can be hard to stay inspired and think of new, creative activities for your kids week after week. That’s what we’re here for!
We find that the seasons and holidays often spark some creativity for us and for some reason, this holiday in particular always seems to jumpstart our brains with fun new Valentine’s Day activities!
Today, we’re sharing a great visual game that can be played in many different ways, depending on the skills you’d like to address.

Valentine’s Day Activities for Kids: Hearts & Arrows Visual Game
What You’ll Need:
-Hearts & Arrows printable pack (scroll down and fill out the form)
-Colored craft sticks
-Colored paper hearts to match the hearts on the cards
-Hearts and Arrows Visual Activity video demonstration
What to Do:
-Print the Hearts & Arrows printable pack and cut the pages into cards. Cut out paper hearts to match the hearts you see on each card.
-Place the paper hearts and craft sticks out on the table.
-Provide the child with one of the cards and challenge them to recreate what they see in the picture using the paper hearts and craft sticks.
How to change it up:
-To add some movement to this game, place the hearts at one end of your play space and the craft sticks at the other end. Have kids move back and forth to retrieve the hearts and craft sticks in different ways (e.g. scooters, animal walks, etc.).
-Play in different positions to encourage core strength, upper extremity strength, and more! Try prone position or quadruped.
