The ability to find an object and know exactly what that object is by just touching it is an amazing part of our Tactile System called stereognosis. It’s almost like a power a superhero would have, isn’t it? In this activity, kids will use this superpower to figure out which vehicles they’re feeling with their hands without even looking!

Transportation Feel & Find Game
What You’ll Need:
-Free vehicle printable
-An empty box
-Toy vehicles that correlate with the pictures on the printable
What to Do:
Cut a hole in the top (or side) of your box that is big enough to allow your child’s hand to easily pass through. Put all of the toy vehicles inside and shake it up! Point to one of the vehicle pictures. Ask your child to find that specific toy by putting her hand in the box and feeling around for it. Think of some verbal cues that you could give them to help if needed. For instance, if she is trying to find a motorcycle you might say, “it only has two wheels”. When the child finds the requested vehicle, remove it from the box and set it aside. Then move on to the next picture. How many can your child identify correctly?
How to Change it Up:
-If this is too easy, put some shredded paper in the box with the toys to add a little more of a tactile challenge.
-You can also make this activity more difficult by keeping the vehicles in the box even after the child correctly identifies them.
-The smaller the toys, the harder this activity will be.
SKILL AREAS ADDRESSED:
