Good Morning and Happy Monday!! How was your weekend? Were you hit by the latest snowstorm in the Northeastern US or are you in some of the Southern States that were blasted by a few inches (OMG!!) of snow last week? Let me guess, you are in sunny Cancun where you have been enjoying temperatures of 86* + all week? If so, we’re jealous!
We decided to shake things up a bit for Movement Monday this week. Typically, we share the top ideas from our Facebook page that were posted throughout the previous week. Today, we are going to show you a couple of the best websites for kids where you can find awesome gross motor activities. We have referenced these sites for ideas for our own therapy practice and we think that their content is AMAZING!
Let’s Go….
SPIDERFIT KIDS || These guys ROCK! In their words, “The primary goal of the SPIDERfit program is to address the problems associated with the growing lack of physical activity and the dangers of sports overspecialization. By reeducating our children in the fundamentals of movement, we create physically literate youngsters with the tools to be active, healthy, and pain-free for life.” Don’t you love it?!? On their blog, you can find articles and videos related to physical activities for kids, whether it’s about teaching a new skill or keeping kids motivated to stay active. Make sure you “like” their Facebook Page for a steady stream of information too!
EAGER ED || While this website has a plethora of ideas for fine, gross and sensory motor play from A to Z, their gross motor ideas are particularly original and fun! This site is beautiful and easy to navigate. I have found a tutorial for making a balance beam, great yoga poses for kids, and they even had Fitness in February series! Head to their site and click around. I am POSITIVE that you will find something to love!
Check these links out and let us know what you think! Also remember to head on over to our Facebook page and post your favorite ideas for gross motor play for the chance to be featured here next week! We love to see what you come up with to stay active as a family!
Have a fabulous week!
