GOOD MONDAY MORNING AND HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!
We have some great gross motor activities for kids to share from those that were posted on our Facebook page last Monday. Thank you to everyone who shared their favorite whole body movement activities this week. Keep it up!! And remember, all activities that meet the criteria for whole body movement are pinned to our Movement Monday Pinterest board — we have a fantastic collection started! Here are our favorite activities from this week…
CARROTS ARE ORANGE knocked our socks off with this article about the importance of gross motor development. She explores not only the physical, but also the emotional, social, and mental benefits. It really is a fantastic read and I am sure that it will inspire you to get your kids moving!
THE CONNECTION WE SHARE got us in the mood for summer with her tips for enjoying a day at a splash pad! Do you have one of these marvelous water parks where you live? I am pretty sure my kiddos would run, jump, and splash for hours if we had one near us!
Chanda at PINK OATMEAL shared 20+ Motor Play Ideas for Baby. Chanda is a fellow pediatric physical therapist, so she knows what she’s talking about when it comes to recommending play activities to promote development. Head over to her post to get some ideas for encouraging tummy time, crawling and even fine motor skills for baby!
Enjoy the holiday with your family today! What will you do? See a parade or hike a trail? Maybe go for a bike ride or play some backyard games at a family picnic? What ever your day brings, have a blast! If it involved whole body movement, share a picture on our Facebook page! We would love to see how you and your family are moving!
