Hi everyone! We hope you had a fantastic week! The Inspired Treehouse sure did! Our post about W-Sitting went viral after being shared by Vanessa Levin at Pre K Pages. If you haven’t checked out her site, please do! She has amazing information and activities for educating children at the preschool/prek level.
We didn’t have too many gross motor (whole body movement) activities shared last week on our Facebook page. So we thought we would share a few of our favorites that we have seen around the web lately. We hope this list inspires you to get your kiddos up and get moving!
Allison, from LEARN PLAY IMAGINE, had this awesome post that combined movement and learning. This toddler color hop is simple to set up, easy to understand and SO beneficial!
We found this activity from Jenae at I CAN TEACH MY CHILD. Don’t you just love the look on this little one’s face? Determination, concentration, and excitement…”I can do this!” She shows you how to make this homemade version of a stomp and catch game and even includes a tutorial for the beanbags! This costs over $75 in therapy catalogs and this activity is AMAZING for hand-eye coordination, reaction time, visual stimulation, balance….the list goes on and on.
And finally, check out Freeze Dance Painting from COFFEE CUPS AND CRAYONS. Megan shared how she got her little one moving to the music and gave her an awesome sensory experience in the process. I especially love how she played music at different tempos to encourage faster and slower dancing. I wonder how this masterpiece turned out?
I hope that you feel inspired by the activities shared here today! Head over and share your gross motor play ideas on our Facebook page today and throughout the week. We would love to see the creative activities you can come up with. Remember that we don’t even need a detailed activity…share a picture of your child playing on their favorite playground or a picture of a swarm of kiddos playing a rough and tough game of football in your front yard. Anything goes on Movement Monday, as long as it is whole body movement!!!!!
ENJOY YOUR WEEK!
