2 more weeks until back to school time for us! How about you? We are gearing up and playing away these last few days of summer. My kiddos are outside, literally, ALL DAY LONG!
It is going to be extremely hard for them to transition back into the days of sitting for long periods of time in their classrooms. Hopefully their teachers will work in some movement breaks throughout the day to save everyone’s sanity!
We introduced something new this week at The Inspired Treehouse. We began a series called Brain Boosters: Active Learning Games for Kids in which we are sharing lots of great activities that incorporate both cognitive/academic skills and whole body movement!
You know how much we love that crazy combo of movement and learning, right? In fact, you will find a few activities below that fit right in with our new series and were shared on our Facebook Page last week. Let’s get to it.
DABBLING MAMA || This number sequence game is genius!! What a fun way to learn about numbers without computer games or paper and pencil activities!
PINK OATMEAL || Leave it to a pediatric physical therapist to make gross motor development fun! This apple toss game is perfect for a fall and incorporates hand-eye coordination and a bunch of whole body movements into one, organized activity!
KEEPING LIFE SANE || This post isn’t necessarily an “activity” but I thought it was an amazing perspective from a 10-year-old boy about why he likes to play outside. Number 4 is my favorite!!
That’s it for this edition of MOVEMENT MONDAY! Have a great week!
