This is one of our favorite Thanksgiving games for kids and doesn’t require any complicated or messy materials!
Have your kids ever played Pick Up Sticks? Mine love it and it was definitely one of my favorites growing up too! Let’s try giving this classic fine motor activity a little twist! If you’re looking for fun Thanksgiving games for kids – put this one on your list!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
-Sticks, pencils, chop sticks, wooden skewers, or small twigs or, for a mini version try toothpicks!
-A loop to place the sticks inside (scrapbook paper, cut section of a toilet paper roll or paper cup)
WHAT TO DO :
Take your bundle of sticks and place them inside the loop. Have kids take turns carefully pulling out one stick at a time. The first one who crashes the teepee loses!
HOW TO CHANGE IT UP:
-Vary how the kids are positioned for the game, changing their base of support and challenging their body control and strength in different ways (e.g. on their tummy, on their knees, standing up, etc).
-You can also time the game to increase the speed and the challenge!
SKILL AREAS ADDRESSED: Fine motor skills, motor control, coordination, grasp, visual motor integration

Thank you, Heather!!
This is a great, inexpensive, play idea for kids. My kids love Jenga, so I will see if they like this one as well. I have a lot of similar ideas at my website http://www.excitedkids.com and I will share this post with my readers as we are always looking for new ideas. Thanks.
Thanks for the kind words Mark! We will head over and check out your site now!!
Looks like fun! Love how simple the idea is.
Will be trying this tomorrow (with chopsticks since we live in Shanghai :-)
Thanks Lauren!
Love this activity!! Such a fun idea, however would prefer you call it something else as the Native Americans on the east coast did not live in teepees.
I want to thank always sharing the best with us!
This article is amazing! I even study it twice in order to grasp
all typically the details. The very last period I did that was https://wankdorfplatz.ch/inertial-drift/, they also have some really good
stuff. This is unsurpassed, though.
