This year, I was feeling inspired to come up with some DIY Christmas gift ideas for some of my favorite little people in the world – my nieces. Here’s one of my favorite ideas!

One of these sweet girls is a sassy, smart, artsy fashionista whose 6-year-old style would be the envy of any 36-year-old (including me). Her gift idea came easily: a totally rad art kit full of creative inspiration. Done!
But my other niece? This one took a some more thought. Also super smart, this cool little chick is much quieter and full of mystery. You never really know what she’s thinking and when she does come out with a question or comment, you realize that she has a completely unique perspective. No one sees the world quite the way she does. She loves documenting, making lists, and (much like her auntie) she craves some quiet and solitude at the end of the day.
It finally came to me…this girl needed an awesome journal kit! A way to document all of those fascinating, unique, creative thoughts so she can look back on them someday and see what an awesome little kid she was.
So I got to work. I came across several cool journal kits for adults like this one from Lil Blue Boo. I took some of the ideas from around the web, added a few of my own, and wrote up 40 of my own fun writing prompts to include in the kit too!

Here’s what to do to create one of your own:
WHAT YOU’LL NEED

–Corrective white out tape
–Pencil sharpener
–Alphabet stickers
–Alphabet rubber stamps
–Ink pads
–Ring for keeping journal writing together
-Hole punch
–Printable writing prompts

WHAT TO DO:
Gather all of your materials into a cool box and tape or glue the printable journal kit label to the top.
Print the writing prompts, cut them out, and punch a hole in the top corner of each card. Put all of the writing prompt cards on the ring to keep them together.
Voila! You have an instant journal kit! I can’t wait to give this gift to my niece, but secretly…the writer in me just wants to keep it for myself!
