Looking for a fun Thanksgiving game for kids? Put those cranberries to good use with these fun movement and balance activities!
What you’ll need:
-cranberries
-spoons
-empty cups (or any small container)
What to do:
Print out the movement tags for this Thanksgiving game for kids here (one set for each child that is playing). Fold them up and put them in a cup. Fill another cup with cranberries. Give each child a spoon and their own empty cup.
Each child will take a scoop of the cranberries, complete the activity listed on the card they draw (while holding their spoon full of cranberries) and then place the berries into their empty cup.
If they drop them while doing the task, they have to start over. The game continues with kids scooping, doing an activity, and dumping their cranberries into their cups. The first one with a full cup wins!
How to change it up:
-Place the cups across the room and add to the challenge by having the kids walk to cups, carrying their cranberries, after completing their task.
-Use smaller or larger spoons, changing the challenge and making kids more aware of their bodies.
-Pair the kids up and have them try to pass the cranberries between their spoons—-make sure no cranberries fall to the floor!!
Skill Areas Addressed:
balance, coordination, motor control, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, grasp, social skills, visual motor integration
