The initial package includes a sturdy metal carrying box that looks and feels safari-ready and is the perfect place for kids to collect all of their Animal Trackers loot! This might have been my son’s favorite part. He loved putting all of the pieces in his carrying case and taking it with him wherever we went so he could show it off!
When the box arrived, I couldn’t wait to open it up and show him. And, as expected, he was mesmerized and entertained for an entire morning! Our box was full of toys, information, and activities about zebras including:
-A zebra craft using Magic Nuudles – this was an awesome fine motor and visual motor activity, as my little guy had to grasp the foam pieces, push them into the damp towel, and then press them firmly onto the paper to create the stripes of his zebra!
-A counting and drawing activity where he had to look at the number next to each zebra picture and add the correct number of stripes.
-A guided reading activity about zebras where he could use illustrations to read along with me. And a colorful fact sheet about zebras and their habitat.
-A zebra letter sounds matching activity.
-A zebra dress-up mask, zebra track card, zebra magnet (great for sticking on the inside of the metal carrying case!), and a zebra animal figure.
My son is four years old and the activities were perfect for his age and would also be appropriate for kids as young as three. Even after the craft and pencil/paper activities were finished, he continues to play with the toy, magnet, and mask and loves going back to look at the fact sheet and animal track card.
The materials are all colorful, engaging and hands-on – perfect for promoting interactive play and learning. I loved that there were learning activities that required a little bit of guidance from me and more imaginative free play options that my little guy could do on his own.
From my perspective as a therapist and mom, the Animal Trackers Club activities were awesome for promoting development, learning, and engagement. The OT in me loved the fine motor and visual motor options in the monthly subscription box and the hands-on nature of all of the activities.
And from my son’s perspective as a four-year-old who’s always on the lookout for his next animal adventure, it was a huge hit! I’ll definitely be ordering a subscription for him for his birthday in May and one for my nephew too!
