Hello everyone and happy MOVEMENT MONDAY! These Mondays are coming around a little too fast for us here at The Inspired Treehouse. Only 2 more Mondays until all of our kiddos head back to school and that means only 2 more Mondays until the three of us head back to work in a nearby school district. Summer has flown by! We have some amazing gross motor activities to share with you this week. Thank you to all of you who posted your ideas on our Facebook page last Monday. Please be sure to head over there again today and share your ideas for gross motor play. And….just in case that word – GROSS MOTOR – trips you up a bit, head over to our Clinical Closeup page and read all about it. This page gives easy-to-read explanations of terminology related to child development.
KITCHEN FLOOR CRAFTS went on a Pirate’s Treasure Hunt searching for golden number rocks. How fun does that sound? Head on over to see how she made her gorgeous gold gems and some other twists that she came up with to reinforce numbers with her boys. We, of course, love how she incorporated whole body movement into the learning process!
MOM INSPIRED LIFE also shared some movement inspired learning! She pulled out the baby pool and threw in some letters for her little boy to dive deep and find! An Underwater Treasure Hunt! I am pretty sure you can tell by the smile on his face that this activity was a blast!
And finally, STUDY AT HOME MAMA introduced the letter ‘T’ to her gang and included all kinds of motor skills to help reinforce it!
Do you catch the theme going on today??? LEARN TO MOVE, MOVE TO LEARN!
Anyway….she has those kiddos throwing ‘T’ennis balls, playing with a homemade ‘T’ennis Racket, tracing the letter ‘T’ on sandpaper, playing with slime….talk about WHOLE BODY MOVEMENT!! WOW! Head on over to read her full lesson plan.
That concludes our round-up for this week! Enjoy the last few weeks of summer with your family. Maybe get outside and move a little? :) And then, head over to our Facebook Page and show us what you did! We would LOVE it!
