Fun Golf Games For Kids
Ask my husband what he wants for Father’s Day and the answer would be back to back rounds of golf. UGH!!!! Nightmare for me, home to entertain all 3 kids by myself…pure heaven for him!
Since I know how much he loves golf (and in an attempt to avoid a 12-hour day here on my own), I came up with some golf games that he can play with our kiddos. It has a few gross motor twists and can be played obstacle course style or just as individual games on their own.
However you choose to play, your kiddos will be so worn out that maybe — just maybe, your hubby can get in ONE round of real golf during naptime!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
-a golf club for everyone (real or plastic toy clubs— it doesn’t matter)
-a few golf balls
-tape
-an object for a target (basket, cone, etc)
-a few plastic cups
WHAT TO DO: Here are some ideas for gross motor activities using those golf clubs.
1 – Putt the ball along a taped line or chalk line on the driveway — make this line as long as you would like. Make it curvy or make it straight. Go uphill or down. Who can stay on the line the longest?
2 – Putt while standing on one foot — see who can stand like a stork and putt the ball to a target.
3 – Putting relay race — Place several marks around the yard using cones or on the driveway using chalk. Start by standing at one marker and encourage your child try to putt his ball all the way to you and through your legs. Once he does, have him move to the next marker to wait for dad to putt through his legs. Keep going, switching places at each marker until you’ve made it to all of them! This way dad gets a little putting practice too! :)
4 – Target practice — everyone start with the same number of balls. Who can get the most balls closest to the target?
5 – Target practice part 2 — place plastic cups all over the yard or driveway. Have your child putt their ball to try to knock over each cup. How many putts or how much time does it take? Can he beat dad?
