Kids love building with blocks and there are so many fun activities with blocks for preschoolers and elementary aged kids! Today’s activity is an awesome one for working on bilateral coordination, fine motor coordination, visual motor skills, and hand strength.
We use this activity during transition times or waiting times to keep kids’ hands and minds busy. It’s also an awesome one to add to your bag of occupational therapy fine motor activities.

Block Building Printable Fine Motor Skills Activities
What you’ll need:
-Free printable block building cards (scroll down and fill out the form)
–Building blocks
–Velcro tabs
What to do:
Place a soft side adhesive velcro circle on one end of each block and place a rough side adhesive velcro circle on the other end of each block.
Print and laminate the pattern card pages. Cut out each individual card.
Have kids stick the blocks together using the pattern cards as a guide. After they complete each pattern, have them separate the blocks, pulling against the resistance of the velcro to build hand strength.
How to change it up:
-Instead of using the free printable block building cards, simply have kids make their own creations using the Velcro blocks!
-Make a pattern using a set of Velcro blocks and have kids replicate your pattern. You can demonstrate adding one block to the pattern at a time, with the child following each step in order to grade the activity and make it simpler and more approachable.
-Use these block building patterns along with other printable fine motor strengthening activities!
